Week 8: User Testing Summary
Website Tested:
Peatcutters Croft
Methods Used:
- Usability testing with one peer
- Journey mapping based on one key task (sending a message via contact form)
Task Scenario:
The user was asked to find a way to contact the owner of the B&B via the website and send a short message.
Observations:
- The “Contact Us” form was easy to find and complete
- The user noticed the “Back to Top” button and found it helpful after scrolling
- The user expected some confirmation message after submitting the form – the alert popup worked well
- No major layout or readability issues on desktop
Feedback:
- Would be helpful to have a confirmation message that stays on screen (not just an alert)
- Could use more visuals or branding to make the page feel warmer
Conclusion:
The added interactivity made the site more usable and responsive. Even though the interaction was simple, it helped users feel more engaged and guided. With further visual polish and mobile optimisation, the site would be much more user-friendly.
Reflection:
This testing helped identify small interaction wins, like how even a simple back-to-top button improves experience. It also highlighted expectations around contact forms and the need for persistent feedback.
